Academic Background and Research Experience:
Dr. Akinoglu has made outstanding contributions to the field of nanoscience and nanotechnology, with his work demonstrating strong interdisciplinary integration across physics, chemistry, and biology. In 2017, he earned his PhD from the renowned Free University of Berlin in Germany, where he conducted research on nanostructured electrodes for renewable energy applications. His achievements during this period were recognized with the prestigious Feodor Lynen Research Fellowship awarded by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.

During his PhD, Dr. Akinoglu also gained valuable experience at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces (MPI), which broadened his perspective and practical skills in nanoscience.
After receiving the Feodor Lynen Fellowship, Dr. Akinoglu pursued postdoctoral research at the University of Melbourne, where he collaborated with leading research teams, further advancing his work in nanotechnology and sustainable energy solutions.

He was also awarded the PASIFIC Fellowship, funded by the EU Horizon 2020 Program and the Marie Sk?odowska-Curie Actions, underscoring the international recognition and high regard for his research achievements. These prestigious fellowships and honors highlight Dr. Akinoglu’s leadership in the field of nanoscience and technology and affirm the global impact of his work.

To date, Dr. Akinoglu has published 74 peer-reviewed scientific papers, including 14 as first author and 18 as corresponding author, demonstrating his leading role and active contribution to research. His work has been cited 1,810 times, with an H-index of 25, reflecting both the quality and influence of his scientific output. Dr. Akinoglu has also supervised 19 master's students, showcasing his commitment and ability to train the next generation of scientists.

Research Focus and Interests:
Dr. Akinoglu's research is at the forefront of nanoscience and nanotechnology, particularly at the interface of physics, chemistry, and biology. His work primarily focuses on vertically aligned multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and the study of light–matter interactions, including plasmonics, photonics, and photocatalysis. He also has a strong interest in electrocatalysis and antibacterial nanostructures.

Dr. Akinoglu has made significant progress in advancing the synthesis techniques for vertically aligned MWCNTs, opening up new possibilities for their application in catalysis, sensing, and energy storage. He actively promotes international collaboration and has established a broad network of research partnerships with institutions in Germany, the United States, Turkey, and Australia. These collaborations have broadened his research vision and facilitated the exchange of scientific knowledge and technological innovation, highlighting his key role in advancing international scientific cooperation.
